School Highlights 2018-2019

Pearson's Corner Elementary School (PCES) and PTA has been named a 2017-2019 National PTA School of Excellence. PCES is one of only 143 schools and PTAs from 29 states across the country to achieve this prestigious status this year. As a National PTA School of Excellence, PCES and the PCES PTA is recognized as a national leader in family-school partnerships and an outstanding example of successfully engaging families in continuous school improvement. We are thankful for this collaboration between school and home to provide the best learning environment for our Panthers!

In collaboration with the PTA, we kicked off our All Panthers Read event in January 2018 by sending home a copy of The Year of the Dog for each family. Grace Lin, author, joined us for a Skype visit and taught our attendees how to draw a dog like she described in her book. After enjoying daily reading and discussions of the book, our families donated their copies back so that we could share the program with students at Chamberlayne Elementary. This demonstration of community service and love for learning is a core trait of our Panther family!

The Pearson's Corner family celebrated the success of our staff, specifically recognizing the some of our amazing people. Ms. Beth Cully was named the PCES Teacher of the Year. Ms. Julie Harrington was recognized as the PCES Support Employee of the Year. In addition, each school day, we celebrate students, teachers, and staff members nominated for demonstrating the core traits of Paw Power, as stated in our daily school motto: Today, I will do my best to be my best. I will be safe, responsible, and respectful. I am Prepared, Compassionate, and Energized for Success. I have Paw Power! Also, we recognized these Panthers in a lunch slide show for their contributions to Paw Power weekly!
