Some of the literacy programs we offer at Pearson’s Corner Elementary are as follows:
English Language Learner (ELL) Instruction
PCES supports eligible ELL students in language development and academic achievement. Students participate in supplementary lessons that incorporate listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Our resource teachers integrate content-specific instruction in ELL lessons.
Reading Intervention
Mrs. Brown and other part time interventionists provide additional reading instruction to students who would benefit from additional support in grades kindergarten to fifth. A variety of methods are used, depending on student needs. The goal of the intervention is to lift the literacy achievement of students who are not achieving grade-level expectations in reading and writing.
